One of the country’s leading petroleum products distribution company, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) which operates a network of petrol stations and convenience stores across the UAE has embarked on a rapid growth trajectory making massive investments in the Northern Emirates, especially Sharjah.

The company seeks to grow its network of service stations throughout the emirate of Sharjah, with its first acquired station Al Dar having opened on Tuesday night.

Sheikh Salem Bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ruler of Sharjah Office, officiated the opening ceremony in the presence of Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri - CEO of Adnoc Distribution among other top dignitaries.

AI Dar service station is the first service station as part of the transfer of assets agreement signed with Enoc for the transfer of 25 non-operational service station facilities in Sharjah to Adnoc Distribution’s network.

Abdulla Salem AI Dhaheri, CEO of Adnoc Distribution while addressing the press on the sideline of the officially opening disclosed that the company plans to open the remaining stations in phases, after conducting the preliminary overhauling and maintenance works, as well as the Health, Environment, Safety and IT checks.

Al Dhaheri disclosed that in Sharjah each station will have an investment of Dhs400,000. The company plans to invest a further Dhs100 million in its branding alone.

Al Dhaheri disclosed that Adnoc-branded service stations will deliver a unified and consistent Smart customer experience with intelligent fuel management system. The system will include an integrated innovative technology such as RFID-based authorisation and payment including e-commerce platforms, all designed for the comfort and convenience of end-users. Adnoc also supplies aviation fuel to all major airports in the country withstanding stiff competition in the market.

Following the ‘Emarat’ acquisition and asset transfer agreement signed with Enoc, the company has increased the overall number of its service stations across the UAE to 386.

Apart from eight fuel dispensers, the Al Dar facility accommodates conveniences such as the Adnoc Oasis, bakery, and fast food outlets.

The company has close to 12,800 workforces throughout the country and expects to increase the number as expansion takes place.

“We have changed the branding aspects and overhauled the external and internal design to reflect the Adnoc Distribution identity. Also, we have ensured that the service station is fitted out with all the conveniences that are generally provided in an Adnoc facility,” said the CEO.

The proposed timeline for the opening of all the service stations as per the agreement with Enoc is by the beginning of 2016, he added.

Under the agreement, Adnoc Distribution will conduct the preliminary overhauling of the 25 service stations in a phased manner. Following this stage, Adnoc Distribution will commence operating the service stations under its own network, a process that will include rebranding works to embed the facilities with the Adnoc Distribution identity, explained Al Dhaheri.
