DFM falls as oil drops on China data

Dubai’s benchmark stock index fell to the lowest in more than a week as oil prices dropped after trade data signalled that growth in China, the world’s second-biggest economy, is slowing.

The DFM General Index lost 0.2 per cent to 1,488.39 points, the lowest since July 2.

The Abu Dhabi’s ADX General Index fell 0.2 per cent to close at 2,474.97 points.

The Bloomberg GCC 200 Index fell 0.2 per cent in Dubai and Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index lost 0.4 per cent.

Dubai Investments dropped 2.4 per cent to 69 fils, the lowest since June 27. Shuaa retreated 2.5 per cent to 62.5 fils, the lowest since February 9.

Bahrain’s gauge fell 0.2 per cent, while Oman’s MSM30 Index lost 0.7 per cent. Kuwait’s measure gained 0.2 per cent and Qatar’s QE Index rose 0.3 per cent.
