Dubai Financial Market (DFM) received a high level delegation of bankers from Azerbaijan, as part of their trade mission to Dubai liaised by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s representative office in Azerbaijan.
The delegates were received by Hassan Al Serkal, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Head of Operations Division, Mrs. Fahima Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President, Head of Business Development Division, as well as other DFM officials.
The visiting delegation consisted of 9 senior officials from the Central bank and 7 banking corporations in Azerbaijan and attended a detailed presentation on the structure of Dubai capital market and the advanced services DFM provides to its participants including the trading, clearing, settlement and depository. The meeting also covered the ways to enhance mutual cooperation as the visiting bankers expressed interest in exploring the possibility of benefiting from Dubai’s experiences and success story as a global financial center.
Essa Kazim, Chairman of DFM said: “We are delighted to welcome the visiting delegation of Azerbaijani bankers, as we are always keen to develop close relationships with other countries and contribute to their development and growth through sharing Dubai’s experiences and success in various sectors, with the financial sector at the forefront. The visit represented a great opportunity to update the delegation on the sound economic fundamentals in Dubai and the role of the emirate as a global financial hub and a gateway to the Middle East and African markets in line with the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. We appreciate the efforts of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in coordinating such visits aimed to explore and expand the areas of cooperation between Dubai and various countries”.
