Eurozone April Jobless Rate Steady At 11%

The Eurozone jobless rate came in at 11 percent in April, the same rate as seen in March, Eurostat said Friday. It also matched economists' expectations.

About 17.4 million were unemployed in the euro area. Compared with March, the number of persons unemployed increased by 110,000 in April.

In the EU27, the jobless rate was 10.3 percent, slightly up from 10.2 percent in March. The lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Austria, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

Spain has the highest rate of unemployment, at 24.3 percent, followed by Greece and Latvia.
