Strong performance in finance sector propelled the MSM 30 Index to 5,932.20 points, a gain of 1.10 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index increased 0.41 per cent to close at 913.03 points.

Al Sharqia Investments was the most active in terms of volume, while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. Port Services was the top gainer, up by 8.86 per cent, while Al Izz Bank was the day’s top loser, down by 1.37 per cent.

As many as 1,351 trades were executed in the session generating a turnover of OMR4.7 million with 24.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded securities, 28 advanced, 3 declined and 15 remained unchanged. Arab and GCC investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR164,000 worth of shares, while foreign investors, who were net sellers, sold shares amounting to OMR109,000 followed by Omani investors at OMR55,000.

Financial Index performed strongly with gains of 1.86 per cent to close at 7,261.06 points. Oman & Emirates Holding, Oman United Insurance, Bank Sohar, DBIH and Al Sharqia Investments increased 6 per cent, 4.44 per cent, 4.09 per cent, 4 per cent and 3.54 per cent respectively. Al Izz Bank and United Finance decreased 1.37 per cent and 0.74 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index advanced 0.78% to close at 7,423.25 points. Gulf International Chemicals, Oman Fisheries, Al Anwar Ceramics, National Aluminium and Construction Materials increased 4.41 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 3.53 per cent, 2.90 per cent and 2.78 per cent respectively.

Services Index closed at 3,278.53 points, up by 0.73 per cent. Port Services, National Gas, Renaissance Services, OIFC and Sohar Power gained 8.86 per cent, 3.97 per cent, 3.55 per cent, 2.79 per cent and 2.35 per cent respectively. Phoenix Power declined 0.65 per cent to close at OMR0.154.
