French June Inflation Stays At 2.3%

French annual inflation remained unchanged in June, data from the statistical office Insee showed Thursday.

Inflation, as measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices, rose 2.3 percent year-on-year in June, the same rate as seen in May. Economists were forecasting the rate to slow to 2.2 percent.

On a monthly basis, the index gained 0.1 percent, while it was expected to stay flat.

At the same time, the consumer prices index was steady, after a decrease by 0.1 percent in May. The annual growth was 1.9 percent in June, in line with forecast, but down from 2 percent a month ago.
