QIB, the benchmark Islamic Bank in Qatar, recently organized a successful blood donation campaign in association with Hamad Medical Corporation, which took place on the morning of April 25.

The goal of the campaign was to increase stocks of blood within Qatar, which will be of enormous benefit to hospitals. The campaign got a great response from bank customers and employees, led by Abdul Latif bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud Managing Director of QIB and Ahmad Meshari QIB's Acting CEO.

They were also joined by three local celebrities, namely: the famous actor Ghanem Sulaiti, Al Jazeera reporter Ali Al Zufiri, and the presenter of the Al Majlis program on the Al Dawri Channel, Khalid Jassim.

The organization of this campaign is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program that the bank has woven into the very fabric of its business. QIB's approach to CSR is designed to enhance communication and interaction with the community through sponsorship of community activities in all fields, especially those of health, education, the environment, sport, culture, religious pursuits, and other community activities.

Mr Al Mahmoud commented, "QIB has a serious commitment to the community, and always seeks to contribute effectively to community and social activities. We are delighted to be involved in supporting the blood bank, in association with Hamad Medical Corporation. That Qatar has sufficient blood stocks is vital for citizens and residents. By organizing this campaign, we affirm QIB's commitment to Qatari society."

Mr Meshari said, "QIB has organized a blood donation campaign every year as part of its CSR vision that comes in line with its role as the leading Islamic Bank in Qatar with its strong and perpetual partnership with its host society. QIB remains committed to the betterment of society on a local, regional and global scale."

The actor Ghanem Sulaiti, commented, "The partnership between QIB and Hamad Medical Corporation in organizing this campaign is evidence of the importance of private sector participation in activities that support the community. This campaign also reflects the 'human dimension' in supporting those in need of blood. The most important point in this is that all employees are part of the community, and by providing blood they are enhancing society and, thus, enhancing themselves."

Al Jazeera's Ali Al Zufiri, said, "This campaign raises awareness of the importance of blood donation, and strengthens a sense of responsibility toward others, in this case especially those patients who are in need of blood bank services."

While Khalid Jassim added, "QIB did a great job in the organisation of this campaign. Organizing campaigns of this type in the workplace provides opportunities for many employees to donate blood. There is a real and ongoing need for these kinds of campaigns in support of the blood bank. It's not an exaggeration to say that a drop of blood really can save a life."
