KL shares open lower

Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened broadly lower today, as the ripple effects of the Wall Street's sharp tumble on Friday spread to the region, dealers said.

At 9.15am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 12.83 points to 1,509.06 after opening lower at 1,507.67.

He said finance, industrial, plantation and technology shares are expected to be weak as investors continued to dump stocks for safer assets like gold due to the uncertainties in Egypt.

The Finance Index lost 115.5 points to 13,847.6, the Industrial Index slid 19.27 points to 2,848.26, while the Plantation Index dwindled 46.84 points to 7,840.92.
