The price index of Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) ended trading on Thursday a decrease of up 44.8 points to 6,774.5 points, while the weighted index also reduced to 1.46 points to read 476.64.

Trades came to 2,168 transactions, worth about 21.5 million Kuwaiti dinars, and volume was at 134.7million shares upon closing.

Six out of the eight sector indices were in red spot and two are green.

The banking sector gained 74.4 points in today's trading followed by the Insurance sector which an up of 2.6 points.

The top volume share is Al-Enma'a Real Estate Company.

The price index of KSE was down 24 points to 6,795.3 points by 10:08 a.m. Thursday, while the weighted index was also down 2.71 points to 475.39 points.

The session saw 681 trades so far at KD 5.4 million, involving 55.5 million shares. On Wednesday, the price index was up 14.1 points to 6,819.3 points, while the weighted index also gained 4.71 points to read 478.1.

The price index of KSE was still red at 11:36 a.m. as it came to 6,774.6 points, shedding 44.7 points.

The weighted index meanwhile came to 475.01 points, down to 3.09 points. Trades came to 1,421 transactions, worth KD 13,323,140, with trading of 94,135, 000 shares so far.

Middle East markets were mixed on Thursday, as investors warily watched escalating violence in Egypt, while gloomy world stocks weighed on regional indices.

Kuwait's telecom firm Zain ended lower, as the Feb. 6 deadline nears for Kingdom Holding's proposed acquisition of Zain's Saudi assets.

Zain dropped 1.4 percent, weighing on the broader index which slipped 0.7 percent. Kingdom, Saudi Prince Talal bin Alwaleed's investment firm, said it is in financing talks with banks for the acquisition.

Gulf Bank gained 1.9 percent after swinging to fourth-quarter and full-year profit.
