According to data, Malaysia imported 362,000 tonnes of scraps in the first quarter of 2012, rising by 1.2% YoY.
Among them, 98,000 tonnes were from the US, increasing by 7.6% YoY; 95,000 tonnes were from Singapore, soaring by 61.8% YoY; 30,000 tonnes were from South Africa, slumping by 68.4% YoY and 26,000 tonnes were from the UK, jumping significantly by 352.6% YoY.
In March 2012 alone, the country's scrap imports declined by 19.1% MoM to 86,000 tonnes.
