There are immense opportunities for cooperation between Malta and Oman in various fields, especially in the area of knowledge sharing, said Maltese businessmen.
“There is huge potential for cooperation, particularly in the transfer of knowledge,” Ivan Cachia, business development executive—international—at QP Management, told the Times of Oman.
QP Management is part of a Maltese delegation, headed by a representative of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, which participated in the third edition of the Business Opportunities Forum held recently in Muscat.
Situated in the centre of the Mediterranean, between Europe and North Africa, Malta has established itself as a key hub for international business and trade.
Cachia said Maltese companies, which have a background of doing business in the European Union (EU), can offer their expertise and experience to Omani companies.
Potential areas
“Hospitality, healthcare and education are probably some of the key areas where the two countries can collaborate,” said the official from QP Management, a leading provider of architectural, engineering, management and technical construction services.
Cachia added that the company has extensive experience in the hospitality sector and can collaborate with Oman’s Ministry of Tourism and local developers to help grow this field in the Sultanate.
Asked about the investment opportunities for Omani companies in Malta, the official said real estate, aviation, shipping and logistics are some of the key areas for investment.
“Malta’s economy at the moment is doing really well. It has been improving year-on-year, and I think the opportunities are vast, particularly because Malta is a member of the EU. So establishing oneself in Malta would mean that you have access to the European market,” Cachia noted.
