Muscat Securities Market (MSM) "30" index closed at the end of May 2013 at 6417.83 points, increasing 290.67 points and constituting a 4.74 per cent rise. The monthly report issued by MSM pointed out that the market value for companies enlisted at MSM stood at OMR12.96 billion, constituting a 3.38 per cent rise than the previous month, which stood at OMR12.54 billion.
The trading value rose during May by 0.36 per cent to reach OMR224.13 million. The daily average of trading value was OMR10.67 million compared to OMR10.15 million during the previous month. In terms of the sector wise contribution, the financial sector ranked first to reach OMR104.3 million and 46.55 per cent of the total trade value.
The services sector ranked second to reach OMR73.13 million and 32.71 per cent whilst the industry sector came third to reach OMR41.03 million and 18.31 per cent. The value of shares bought by foreign investors reached OMR62.94 million comprising 28.08 per cent.
