The MSM30 index closed on a negative note amid low trading activity and was down by 0.14 per cent at 5594.23 points. At the session close, BankMuscat was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Dhofar Cattlefeed was the top gainer of the day, to close up by 3.18 per cent, while Salalah Mills lost the most and closed down by 3.15 per cent.
A total number of 1,103 trades were executed in yesterday's trading session generating turnover of RO1.59 million with over 3.25 million shares of trading volume. The market breadth was in favor of decliners. Out of 45 traded stocks, 15 declined, 7 advanced and 23 remained unchanged.
At the session close, Omani investors switched to net buyers for RO 402,000 while foreign investors were net sellers with RO 372,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for RO 30,000 worth of shares.
Banking and Investment Index was down by 0.31 per cent at 6297.54 points. Ahli Bank was the only gainer and was up by 0.39 per cent to close at RO 0.26. OMINVEST, United Finance and Gulf Investment Services declined by 1.74 per cent, 1.74 per cent and 1.67 per cent, respectively. - United Securities
at 6067.81 points, down by 0.24 per cent. Dhofar Cattlefeed, Oman Refreshment, National Mineral Water and A Saffa Foods increased by 3.18 per cent, 2.76 per cent, 1.82 per cent and 1.61 per cent respectively. Salalah Mills, Jazeera Steel Product, National Aluminium and Al Hassan Engineering declined by 3.15 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.58 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively.
Services & Insurance Sector Index was down by 0.15 per cent to close at 2428.99 points. United Power was the only gainer and was up by 0.30 per cent to close at RO1.01. Al Jazeira Service, OIFC, Nawras, Omantel and Al Maha Petroleum declined by 1.22 per cent, 1.20 per cent, 0.47 per cent, 0.26 per cent and 0.01 per cent respectively.
