Muscat shares post gains

Share prices edged up on the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) yesterday with the benchmark MSM-30 Index gaining 0.55 per cent to close at 5,722 points.

Total shares traded increased by 64.6 per cent to 25.903 million shares against Thursday’s 15.736 million shares. Total traded value jumped 49.9 per cent, from RO6.468 million to RO9.694 million.

Foreign investors were net buyers yesterday. They made a net purchase of 3.9 per cent (RO0.37 million) in the total turnover.

Foreign buying interest continued in the market with a net purchase of RO18 million as o yesterday.

Amongst the sectors, the Banking & Investment sector was the biggest gainer yesterday which closed 0.46 per cent higher at 7,653 points.

The industry and services and insurance sectors closed up at 0.24 per cent at 6,617 points and 0.09 per cent at 2,494 points, respectively.
