The MSM30 Index retreated slightly to close at 7490.67 points, down by 0.08 per cent. The MSM Sharia index was up by 0.27 per cent at 1,075.79 points. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover. Oman Textile Holding was the top gainer of the day, up by 5.64 per cent, while Gulf Hotels Oman, which went down by 8.70 per cent finished as top loser.
A total number of 953 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR4.3 million with 11.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 54 traded stocks, 11 advanced, 19 declined and 24 remained unchanged. Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR324,000 followed by Omani investors for shares worth OMR142,000 while GCC and Arab investors were sellers for OMR466,000 worth of shares.
The financial Index continued its positive run to close at 9,276.53 points, up by 0.14 per cent. Bank Nizwa, Takaful Oman and Oman United Insurance increased by 4.71 per cent, 2.02 per cent and 1.82 per cent respectively. ONIC Holding, Global Financial Investment, Al Anwar Holding, Al Madina Investment and Ominvest declined by 1.75 per cent, 1.46 per cent, 1.28 per cent, 1.03 per cent, and 0.86 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was marginally down by 0.04 per cent before closing at 10,197.75 points. Oman Textile, Al Hassan Engineering and Oman Cement increased by 5.64 per cent, 1.31 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Ceramics and Voltamp Energy declined by 0.70 per cent and 0.47 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index rebounded to close marginally higher by 0.04 per cent at 3,794.52 points. SMN Power, Nawras, Al Suwaidi Power and Al Batinah Power increased by 2.04 per cent, 1.22 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively. Gulf Hotels, Sharqiyah Desalination, National Gas, OIFC and Renaissance Services declined by 8.70 per cent, 1.94 per cent, 1.67 per cent, 1.17 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.
