Amid weak trading activity, the MSM30 Index ended the day on a flat note at 6,644.92 points, up by 0.01 per cent. MSM Sharia index decreased by 0.07 per cent to close at 990.63 points. Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Al Batinah Development, up by 1.53 per cent, remained the top gainer of the day while Oman Fisheries, down by 5.63 per cent, was the top loser of the day.
A total number of 574 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR3.3 million with more than 7.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded stocks, five advanced, 20 declined and 20 remained unchanged. Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR199,000 followed by Omani investors for OMR146,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR346,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index declined by 0.29 per cent to end the trading session at 8,101.60 points. Al Batinah Development and Oman Orix Leasing increased by 1.53 per cent and 1.35 per cent respectively. Global Finance & Investments, Al Sharqia Investments, United Finance, Al Madina Takaful and Al Anwar Holding decreased by 4.20 per cent, 1.71 per cent, 1.41 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 0.87 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 8,551.38 points, a loss of 0.31 per cent. Galfar Engineering increased by 0.55 per cent to close at OMR0.182. Oman Fisheries, National Aluminium, Gulf International Chemicals, Voltamp Energy and Al Anwar Ceramics declined by 5.63 per cent, 2.94 per cent, 1.55 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index decreased marginally by 0.04 per cent to close at 3,597.78 points. Omantel, up by 0.56 per cent, was the only sector gainer. Al Jazeera Steel, Oman Oil Marketing, Al Suwadi Power, OIFC and National Gas decreased by 1.17 per cent, 0.89 per cent, 0.56 per cent, 0.41 per cent and 0.33 per cent respectively.
