The pullback in financials weighed on the MSM30 Index, which closed at 6,277.90 points, down by 0.31 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 957.79 points, up by 0.14 per cent. Global Financial Investment was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Al Sharqia Investments, up by 5.84 per cent was today's top gainer while Oman Packaging, down by 10 per cent, was the top loser.
As many as 1,108 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR5.4 million with more than 27 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, 16 advanced, 12 declined and 16 remained unchanged. GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR207,000, while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR128,000 followed by Omani Investors for OMR78,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,750.76 points, down by 0.89 per cent. Al Sharqia Investments, Oman & Emirates Holding, Al Batinah Development and Bank Muscat increased 5.84 per cent, 3.20 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 0.76 per cent, respectively. Ominvest, Oman United Insurance, Al Madina Takaful, Al Anwar Holding and Gulf Investment Services declined 7.46 per cent, 2.58 per cent, 1.19 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 0.67 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.22 per cent to close at 8,284.23 points. Al Maha Ceramics, Gulf International Chemicals, Oman Fisheries, Oman Cables and Al Jazeera Steel increased by 2.72 per cent, 2.63 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 1.06 per cent and 1 per cent, respectively. Oman Packaging, Oman Textiles and Al Anwar Ceramics declined by 10 per cent, 9.89 per cent and 0.52 per cent, respectively.
