MSM30 Index ended on a high note at 6,376.74 points, up by 2.51 per cent. MSM Shariah index also gained 1.12 per cent at 963.18 points.
Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Sohar Power, up by 8.82 per cent while Port Services Corporation, down by 1.15 per cent, was the only loser.
Altogether 2,249 trades were executed during the day's session generating a turnover of OMR28.9 million with more than 32.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 58 traded stocks, 47 advanced, one declined and 10 remained unchanged. Omani investors remained net buyers to the tune of OMR967,000 worth of shares, while foreign investors were net sellers at OMR864,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors, who sold shares amounting to OMR103,000.
The financial Index advanced strongly to close at 7,806.72 points, up by 2.89 per cent. Al Sharqia Investments, Bank Dhofar, Global Finance & Investments, ONIC Holding and Gulf Investment Services increased by 8.20 per cent, 7.79 per cent, 7.48 per cent, 7.33 per cent and 6.67 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index maintained its uptrend and closed at 8,187.24 points, up by 2.25 per cent. Oman Fisheries, Gulf International Chemicals, A'Saffa Foods, Al Hassan Engineering and Dhofar Cattlefeed increased by 8.57 per cent, 7.95 per cent, 5.71 per cent, 4.72 per cent and 4.57 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index ended at 3,521.81 points, down by 1.80 per cent. Sohar Power, OIFC, Renaissance Services, Al Jazeera Services and ACWA Power Barka increased by 8.82 per cent, 7.14 per cent, 6.19 per cent, 5.63 per cent and 2.91 per cent respectively. Port Services declined by 1.15 per cent to close at 348 baisas.
