SABIC Home of Innovation, a growth initiative that combines marketing, innovation and technology to create demand and grow business on a local, regional and global level, hosted the launch of Home of innovation and Innovation Day – a major event held over two consecutive days in May is enhancing SABIC’s efforts to partner for downstream transformation and growth, while celebrating innovation.

The event was followed by a discussion panel led by Awadh Al-Maker, Executive Vice President, Technology and Innovation of SABIC, with participants from Paolo Cervini, Senior Vice President of Philips Lighting ME; a senior representative, Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority; Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, Executive Vice President Polymers of SABIC; and Osamah AlZamil, CEO of AlZamil Group.

‘KSA Vision focuses on its strategic location as the heart of the Arab and Islamic worlds, the investment powerhouse, and the hub connecting three Continents; our 2025 strategic objectives are aligned with this vision through accelerating growth, delivering innovation, focusing on customers, and driving the Saudi agenda,’ Al-Fageeh said during the panel discussion. He added ‘the need for innovation is critical. This is where Philips and SABIC can make a difference.’

Cervini added “we see great opportunities for growth in the innovation industries in this country, as one of the main areas the Vision 2030 will be focusing on is innovation in advanced technologies and entrepreneurship. Our strategic partnership with SABIC allows the exchange of knowledge in the areas of research and development.”

PhilipsHe added that innovation is not only the product or solution but it’s the new process, new way of working or the go to market that is required to transform KSA’s economy for the future ahead.

The recent joint venture between Philips, the leading lighting solutions provider in the Kingdom and GLC, a market leader in lighting in Saudi Arabia, provides the perfect windows to bring the technological revolution in lighting to the Kingdom; coupled with local strengths that stretch across the region. Philips has chosen Saudi Arabia to be its industrial hub for the whole region to lead the transformation in lighting technologies.

“Because we believe, Philips lighting will help Saudi Arabia to eliminate and keep the streets clean of crime, making it one of the safest in the world. The annual crime rate is 0.8 per 100,000 people – far below the international average of 0.6,” Cervini added.
