The Qatar Exchange (QE) and the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) of Hamad Bin Khalifa University yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of education, training and consultation in terms of investment products.
This MoU, which is part of the bourse’s ongoing efforts to promote and strengthen the culture of securities investments among citizens and expatriates in Qatar, is the second one as the QE has last month inked an agreement with Qatar Finance and Business Academy of the Qatar Financial Centre.
The latest agreement was signed by Rashid bin Ali al-Mansoori, QE chief executive and Hatem al-Qaranshawi, dean of the QFIS.
The MoU aims at enhancing mutual co-operation in the development and provision of training programmes, education courses and seminars for local investors in order to raise the level of their securities investment knowledge and familiarise them with the most important products offered for trading in the market.
As per the agreement, there are also provisions for briefing local investors on the financial ratios used to analyse the performance of the listed companies and stock price trends. The MoU seeks to achieve the goal of attracting the citizens and expatriates to invest in the QE and consequently contribute to the economic growth in the country.
Al-Mansoori described the agreement as a basis for “fruitful” co-operation with the QFIS for the purpose of promoting investment awareness in Qatar and raise the level of efficiency of QE dealers in order to enhance the liquidity in the market.
He underscored the importance of offering new traded products on the bourse in order to diversify the investment options for investors and contribute to provide more liquidity in the market.
Al-Mansoori also highlighted the importance of “rigorous” efforts between the exchange and the QFIS in providing investors with concrete and practical knowledge, which will help them in taking informed investment decisions.
“This agreement comes within the framework of QFIS’ role in achieving the Qatar National Vision and as part of QFIS commitment to contributing in the community development and economic growth,” al-Qaranshawi said.
