The rupee weakened to 56 levels against the US dollar in the morning session today a day after the RBI’s monetary policy disappointed market expectations.
At 9.48 am, the domestic currency was trading lower at 56.04 against the American currency. It opened at 55.90 to the dollar.
The Indian unit had touched a record low of 56.52 on May 31.
On Monday, the rupee plunged by 53 paise to close at 55.93 against the dollar after the RBI kept the key policy rates unchanged in the mid-quarter monetary policy.
