Amid a firming trend in global markets, silver futures prices today moved up by 0.17 per cent to Rs 55,015 per kg, as speculators created fresh positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July rose by Rs 92 or 0.17 per cent to Rs 55,015 per kg with a business turnover of 1,466 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 79 or 0.14 per cent to Rs 56,340 per kg with a trade volume of 93 lots.
Globally, silver rose by 0.17 per cent to $ 28.79 an ounce in Singapore in early trade today.
Market analysts said that the reports of a firming trend in precious metals overseas have mainly influenced silver futures here.
