The MSM30 index continued its downward journey and closed at 5642.29 points, down by 0.22 per cent. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Salalah Mills was the most active in terms of turnover. Sweets of Oman was the top gainer for the day and closed up by 7.60 per cent while Renaissance Services was the top loser for the day and closed down by 4.75 per cent.
A total number of 1078 trades were executed in yesterday's trading session generating turnover of RO4.14 million with over 12.04 million shares traded. Out of 51 traded stocks, 13 advanced, 19 declined and 19 remained unchanged. Omani investors were net buyers for RO283,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for RO259,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for RO25,000 worth of shares.
Financial Sector Index was down by 0.44 per cent and closed at 6253.38 points. National Bank of Oman and Al Anwar Holding increased by 1.47 per cent and 0.79 per cent, respectively. Oman & Emirates, Gulf Investment Services, Global Financial Investment and Ahli Bank declined by 4.63 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 2.30 per cent and 1.77 per cent, respectively.
The Industrial Sector Index was marginally up by 0.05 per cent and closed at 7227.18 points. Sweets of Oman, Gulf International Chemicals, Oman Fisheries, Raysut Cement, Galfar and Oman Cement increased by 7.60 per cent, 1.81 per cent, 0.99 per cent, 0.86 per cent, 0.26 per cent and 0.15 per cent, respectively. Dhofar Cattle feed, Jazeera Steel Product, Al Hassan Engineering, Oman Chlorine and Oman Flour Mills declined by 1.72 per cent, 1.36 per cent, 1.26 per cent, 0.36 per cent and 0.21 per cent, respectively.
Services Sector Index closed at 2831.46 points, down by 0.49 per cent. Renaissance Services, OIFC, Oman Telecommunications Company and Nawras declined by 9.31 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 0.69 per cent and 0.61 per cent, respectively.
