STC Advanced Solutions, an STC Group subsidiary and key provider of advanced, turnkey and reliable Information Technology (IT) solutions, participated as the ‘Technology Sponsor’ of the ‘Burden of Cancer in the three-day Gulf Region’ Conference held in Riyadh last Oct. 21-23. The conference was under the sponsorship of Engineer Adel Bin Muhammad Fakeih, Minister of Labor and Minister of Health, with the theme ‘Bridging the Gaps.’

According to Dr. Sultan Bin Hassan Bin Said, STC Advanced Solutions’ Chief Executive Officer, the international conference played a significant role towards the fight against cancer—serving as an interactive platform to facilitate the exchange of knowledge & experience and the review of international best practices in the efforts to prevent and control the disease. He added that the event will also allow experts in the medical field to discuss the latest technologies, breakthroughs and methodologies in reducing the economic burden brought about by cancer in Arab Gulf countries; calling for the strengthening of channels via more productive initiatives and programs designed to support the efforts to reduce the negative effects of cancer while also leaving a positive impact across local communities.

“Our participation as Technology Sponsor for this event falls in line with our commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) — one of our most important and strategic priorities. We are pleased to be a part of the event’s list of distinguished sponsors, who have all expressed their support for the efforts to raise awareness in the campaign against cancer. Rest assured that we will continue to provide care and support for similar initiatives and national campaigns that are aimed at promoting unity, cooperation and bolstering community development,” Dr. Bin Said added.

The conference provided an opportunity for healthcare providers, cancer control experts, decision makers, economists, non-governmental organizations and public activists in the Gulf region to bridge the gaps in fighting against cancer. The agenda of the three-day conference consisted of a series of discussions and meetings focusing on urgent issues like ‘Burden of Cancer—Status and Strategies,’ ‘Control of Cancer in Arab Gulf States,’ and ‘Primary and Secondary Prevention of Cancer—Conceptual Issues.’ The conference will also look towards tackling the roles of primary healthcare centers in detecting the disease at its early stages and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the success of programs to combat cancer and ways to improve training and support for scientific research and other key efforts.
