Trading activity remained subdued and the index ended at 5,835.52 points, down by 0.04 per cent. The Sharia Index increased 0.21 per cent to close at 906.48 points. Bank Nizwa remained the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer, Bank Nizwa, was up by 2.53 per cent, while Al Jazeera Steel was the top loser, down by 4.94 per cent.
As many as 518 trades were executed on Monday, generating turnover of OMR1.5 million with 12.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded securities, six advanced, nine declined and 19 remained unchanged. Omani investors switched to net buyers for OMR140,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR139,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR1,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index remained stable at 7,155.15 points, a change of 0.01 per cent. Bank Nizwa, Al Madina Investments, Al Izz Bank and Al Anwar Holding increased by 2.53 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 0.56 per cent, respectively. Oman & Emirates Holding, Al Madina Takaful, HSBC Bank Oman, Bank Sohar and Bank Muscat declined by 2.91 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 0.88 per cent, 0.57 per cent and 0.38 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index declined by 0.22 per cent to close at 7,154.88 points. Al Jazeera Steel, Oman Fisheries andRaysut Cement declined by 4.94 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 0.45 per cent, respectively.
Services Index gained by 0.07 per cent to finish at 3,242.14 points. Oman Telecommunication Company (Omantel) and Ooredoo gained by 0.62 per cent and 0.52 per cent, respectively. Port Services, down by 2.76 per cent, was onlyshare that declined on Monday.
