Swiss non-farm employment rose 1.3 percent annually to 4.049 million in the first quarter, the Federal Statistical Office said Friday.
In the secondary sector, employment grew 1.4 percent to 1.035 million and rose by 1.3 percent to 3.01 million in the tertiary sector.
Employment is expected to increase slightly in the coming quarter. The statistical office said the difficulties experienced by enterprises in finding skilled labor remain largely unchanged in the first quarter.
