Saudi Arabia’s stock market fell on Wednesday on profit-taking activity by short-term retail investors, with the Tadawul index ending 1.6 per cent lower to reach 6,934.06.
The drop comes a day after the speech by King Salman before the Saudi Shura Council during which he said that Riyadh aims to diversify its sources of income and improve the efficiency of government spending as it tried to cut its dependence on oil revenue.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s QE index rose 0.42 per cent to reach 10,217.19, as Kuwait’s benchmark index slid 0.1 per cent to reach 5,620.
