United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Transport and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.50% to hit a new 1-month high, while the ADX General index added 1.04%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA), which rose 8.88% or 0.054 points to trade at 0.662 at the close.
Meanwhile, ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) added 4.69% or 0.160 points to end at 3.570 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 3.83% or 0.023 points to 0.623 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 3.80% or 0.070 points to trade at 1.840 at the close. Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) declined 1.60% or 0.020 points to end at 1.230 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was down 1.54% or 0.010 points to 0.650.
The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 14.46% to 0.950, Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was up 7.84% to settle at 1.10 and Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which gained 4.01% to close at 8.30.
The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 9.52% to 0.380 in late trade, Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which lost 5.50% to settle at 1.03 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was down 2.86% to 0.680 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 16 to 11; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 rose and 10 declined, while 2 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.13% or 0.57 to $50.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.65% or 0.37 to hit $56.67 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.99% or 10.90 to trade at $1092.60 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.13% to 4.0147.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 97.45.
