The United States is the third largest trade partner of the UAE, with the volume of non-oil trade exchanges exceeding $24 billion through 2014, says a senior official. Juma Mohammed Al Kit, assistant undersecretary for foreign trade at the Ministry of Economy, says: “The UAE is the most important export market for the United States in the Middle East and North Africa region.”

He adds: “The number of US companies in the UAE reaches more than a thousand American companies operating in various sectors,” reports UAE-based Aliqtisadi. The Ministry of Economy discussed ways to strengthen the prospects of trade and investment cooperation with the National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce during a meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

It is noteworthy that the volume of non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and US rose 3.3 per cent during the first quarter of 2015, amounting to AED22.7bn, compared with AED22bn in the corresponding period last year.
