Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has slashed Internet tariffs by 70 percent in an effort to attract and enroll more Internet users as its DSL subscribers in the Kingdom. This announcement was made by Saud Bin Majed Al-Daweesh, STC president, at “Afaq DSL One Million Promotion” organized at the Four Seasons Hotel to mark one million subscriptions to the service.

An STC customer, Rashid Al-Khabiry, suffering from renal failure was the winner of SR1 million in the lucky draw. The draw, in which 10 DSL customers also won free lifetime DSL subscriptions, was organized with light and sound shows. “STC has also awarded two-year free subscriptions to 100 customers, while 1,000 customers have won one-year free DSL use,” said the STC chief.

Al-Daweesh expressed his congratulations to all winners in “Afaq DSL One Million Promotion”, which included all customers since its launch and till the end of the campaign on Feb. 28, 2009. He said that Afaq DSL Shamel service provided integrated Internet services solutions through a DSL line and an open around-the-clock Internet subscription. The bill is added to the client’s phone bill. He said that the Afaq DSL Shamel service had witnessed a substantial increase in demand and penetration in the Kingdom.
