Cementing Growth

In the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, the cement industry is witnessing tremendous growth and demand expansion with a sharp rise in construction activity in the real estate and infrastructure sectors. From 2004 to 2007, cement consumption in GCC increased at a CAGR of 14%, while production increased at 12%. This was a direct consequence of windfall gains from rising crude oil prices and a decision of the local governments to diversify their economies away from oil and natural gas.
