The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said that the number of applications for trademarks, commercial licenses and commercial agencies during the second quarter of 2018 reached to 6,128. MoCI said the number of commercial licenses, which are in the form of commercial permits, import licenses and exhibitions’ permits during the second quarter of 2018 reached to 3,404 compared with the second quarter of 2017 when it was 1,993. The data indicated that the number of import licenses increased during the second quarter of this year to 1,863 compared with 307 licenses of the second quarter of the previous year.

This is due to the increase in the export of oil and gas products and rise in the number of licenses for export and import of petroleum products and their derivatives. According to the statistics department of the ministry, the total number of trademarks, patent applications, industrial designs and copyright applications registered during the second quarter of this year was 2,511 compared with 2,166 last year. MoCI also said that the total number of commercial agencies of all types of commercial agencies and licenses for the sale of petroleum products of all kinds as well as professional licenses of all their verities during the second quarter of 2018 reached to 213 compared with the second quarter of 2017 when it was 202 licenses.
