MSM 30 index ended on a positive note at 6815.98 points, up by 0.12 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 1096.75 points, up by 0.31 per cent. Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Port Services Corp was the top gainer and closed up by 2.11 per cent while Oman Holding International was the top loser and closed down by 3.56 per cent.
A total number of 1586 trades were executed in Monday's trading session generating turnover of OMR10.98 million with over 40.54 million shares traded. Out of 52 traded stocks, 18 advanced, 27 declined and seven were unchanged. GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR563,000 while Omani investors switched to net sellers for OMR455,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR108,000 worth of shares.
Financial Sector Index marginally declined by 0.06 per cent at 8143.92 points. Gulf Investment, Al Sharqiya Investment, Dhofar Insurance, Bank Nizwa and Global Financial Investment increased by 1.48 per cent, 1.15 per cent, 1.07 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively. Al Madina Takaful, Al Madina Investment, Al Anwar Holding, National Bank of Oman and Bank Sohar declined by 2.96 per cent, 2.24 per cent, 2.09 per cent, 0.62 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively.
The Industrial Sector Index closed flat at 10382.81 points. Raysut Cement and Oman Cement increased by 0.7 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively. Oman Textile, Galfar Engineering, Gulf International Chemicals, Oman Cables and Al Hassan Engineering declined by 3.45 per cent, 1.08 per cent, 0.94 per cent, 0.46 per cent and 0.40 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index up by 0.12 per cent and closed at 3664.40 points. Port Services Corp, Al Jazeira Services, Sohar Power, Nawras and Oman Telecom increased by 2.11 per cent, 1.43 per cent, 1.29 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.33 per cent respectively. Oman Holding and OIFC declined by 3.56 per cent and 1.44 per cent respectively.
