CHEMANOL, previously known as 'Saudi Formaldehyde Chemicals Company', was established in January 1989. CHEMANOL is a name coined from the phrase 'Chemicals from Methanol'. It emphasizes that CHEMANOL is a specialtychemicals company that derives its products from Methanol. CHEMANOL was the first private sector company in the petrochemicals sector of the GCC. It was initially developed, promoted and financed by a group of leading entrepreneurs from the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries, and is now developed to being a closed joint stock company traded on the Saudi Stock Market. CHEMANOL is a grass root, second generation petrochemical complex located in the Secondary Industries Park at Jubail Industrial City. In the last 27 years, the company has progressed from two products to 11 products, which are available in 26 different grades and exported to 50-plus countries. The company manufactures and sells methanol derivatives, formaldehyde derivatives, plasticizers, and various amino resins in the Middle East and Africa region. It is involved in the production of urea formaldehyde concentrates; hexamethylene paraformaldehyde aqueous formaldehyde solutions; tetramine;melamine urea formaldehyde powder resins; urea and melamine formaldehyde powder resins; sulphonated naphthalene formaldehyde liquid and powder; and sulphonated melamine formaldehyde liquid. The company has one of the most integrated facilities in the world and the biggest plant in the MENA region with a total production capacity of 1m tons/year of methanol, formaldehyde and derivatives. Its research and development department has helped to cater to customers' specific requirements and has made the company a leader in the specialty chemicals market, a position achieved with the help of its 500+ strong team of professionals.
