National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA), also known as Bahri, is not only the leading national shipping carrier of Saudi Arabia but also one of the largest maritime services providers on a global scale, as it owns the largest fleet of Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs). Established back in 1978 by Royal decree, Bahri owns a total of 86 vessels, including 39 VLCCs, 36 chemical/product tankers, 6 multipurpose tankers and 5 dry bulk carriers with 7 VLCCs ordered to join the fleet in 2017/18. Bahri has a diversified portfolio of business units that includes Bahri Oil, Bahri Chemicals, Bahri Logistics, Bahri Dry Bulk, Bahri Ship Management and Bahri Data. Headquartered in Riyadh, the major business operations of Bahri are related to crude oil transportation services offered by its Bahri oil business unit. It is an exclusive partner for Saudi Armco's CIF (Cost, Sales and Freight) sales. With an owned fleet of 39 VLCCs, Bahri is the world's largest VLCC operator and owner, with each VLCC having the capacity to transport 2.2 billion barrels of crude oil. A recent order placed of 7 new VLCCs placed with Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries will enlarge the transportation capacity of Bahri Oil. With $1.5 Billion worth APICORP, the Bahri Oil Shipping Fund (ABOSF) set up in 2016; Bahri Oil is all set to consolidate its market share and operating capacity. With headquarters located in Riyadh, Bahri has its branches in Dammam, Jeddah, Jubail, Dubai and a regional office in Baltimore, USA too. Bahri also boasts a wide network of agents across the Middle East, Africa, USA, Europe and Asia.
