In celebration of its' latest milestones, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) held an award ceremony at the Movenpick hotel to honour the employees who contributed to the success of hosting the large numbers of fans during the Gulf Cup Tournament 2013 and streamlined the arrival of VIP delegates during the meeting of the Supreme Council for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

96 employees from the Airport Operations Department were awarded by Mr. Mohamed Yousif Al- Binfalah, CEO of Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), who praised the staff capabilities in managing the remarkable increase in air traffic and passengers during the aforementioned events.

BIA recorded a significant increase in passengers' traffic during the Gulf Cup Tournament held in Bahrain in the period between 4th and 18th of January this year, whereby more than 20,000 football fans arrived to the country via commercial and chartered flights to support their teams.

BIA and BAC staff worked diligently to provide the necessary requirements to ease the traffic movement and provide a convenient travel experience, whether this required allocating extra numbers of staff or liaising with the concerned authorities in the public and private sector.

Mr. Al Al-Binfalah also added in his keynote speech, "BIA is the gateway to the Kingdom and it connects Bahrain to the rest of the world. Therefore, the accumulated efforts of the team in welcoming and receiving visitors play a leading role in promoting Bahrain regionally and internationally during prestigious events such as the Formula One, an internationally renowned event that attracts thousands of travelers from around the world."

Towards the end of the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were handed to the awarded employees for their sincere efforts and they were encouraged to keep up the good work in their future assignments.

As part of its' operator role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport's infrastructure and services. This is to improve the Kingdom's aviation capabilities; and to cater for the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of BIA stakeholders.

BAC is also accountable for building and maintaining the airport's facilities to the highest-standards, and the provision of innovative aviation services that meet the requirements of travelers and airlines operators alike.
