Crude oil futures held to losses and gold stuck close to its floor finishing price Wednesday after the Federal Reserve released its afternoon rate statement. As expected, it kept rates near 0% and said it would keep them exceptionally low for "for an extended period." But the policy decision was not unanimous. Oil for March delivery recently traded at $73.54 a barrel, off 1.6% for the session, and compared to $73.41 a barrel ahead of the release. February gold futures traded at $1,084.5 an ounce, in line with their floor settlement, and slightly off electronic trades of $1,088.7 an ounce ahead of the statement.
