National Central Cooling Company PJSC (‘Tabreed’), the leading Abu Dhabi-based district cooling utility company, today announced that it is the exclusive provider of district cooling services to Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, the capital's largest waterpark.
Tabreed will supply 2,473 RT of cooling to Yas Waterworld’s internal facilities, including its main building, in total serving approximately 11,529 square meters of interior space. Compared to conventional cooling, Tabreed is expected to help Yas Waterworld reduce its energy consumption by approximately four million KwH per year, driving an expected reduction in CO2 emissions of almost 2,000 tons per year and a potential cost saving of almost AED 600,000 per year.
Jasim Thabet, Tabreed’s CEO, said: “Yas Waterworld is one of Abu Dhabi’s most exciting new developments and will be a major attraction for tourists and residents alike. We are pleased to be working closely with another of Abu Dhabi's landmark attractions and to provide them with year round, reliable, and energy efficient cooling solutions."
Thabet added: "For developments of this kind, district cooling is the ideal solution as it reduces energy consumption, creating significant benefits in terms of lower costs and CO2 emissions. Of particular importance to an attraction of this type is the reliability. Tabreed’s high-tech and industrial cooling units dramatically decrease failure frequency compared to commercial equipment, and therefore provide peace of mind to our client.”
“For a waterpark of its size, it was important for Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi to choose a cooling partner that was aligned with our energy-conscious approach. Yas Waterworld incorporates several solutions that are aimed at more energy efficient operations and Tabreed’s proven experience in the UAE made it an ideal choice in this regard,” said Mike Oswald, General Manager, Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi.
Spread over 15 hectares, Yas Waterworld will be the largest waterpark in the UAE capital, and will feature a range of 43 rides, slides and attractions. In particular, the waterpark is launching five unique rides never before seen in the world.
Yas Waterworld was recently awarded the World Waterpark Association’s inaugural Leading Edge Award at a special ceremony held at the World Waterpark Association's Annual Show, in Las Vegas, USA. The project is developed by ALDAR Properties PJSC and is operated by Farah Leisure Parks Management L.L.C.
