Dar, one of the world's leading consultancies, has secured a major contract from Kuwait's Ministry of Public Works to provide design review and construction supervision services for the transformational South Al Mutlaa Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) along with related works.

Located on a site covering 1.1 million sq m in northern South Al Mutlaa City, the WWTP is a key component of Kuwait's national water sustainability strategy.

The plant will feature a wide range of advanced and sustainable technologies, including:

*High performance treatment processes that use biological treatment, ultra filtration, and UV disinfection.

*Self-sufficient energy systems supported by anaerobic digestion and biogas recovery.

*Integrated renewable energy systems to enhance long term sustainability.

*Comprehensive infrastructure that includes utility connections and automated control systems.

On completion, the $500 million facility will treat 400,000 cu m/day wastewater, with peak capacity of 600,000 cu m/day, and will produce ultra filtered treated effluent that meets the highest regional standards, said the statement from Dar.

This new contract reinforces the top global consultancy's strong track record in the water and wastewater sector.

Building on recent achievements such as Kuwait's 700,000 cu m-per-day Umm Al Hayman Wastewater Treatment Plant, Dar continues to expand its role in delivering major infrastructure projects that advance Kuwait's environmental sustainability and national development goals, it added.
