Director-General of Civil Aviation (CAA) Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah affirmed Kuwait's commitment to expanding its network of aviation relations and enhancing international cooperation in civil aviation to serve the common interests of all parties. The statement, issued by the CAA and obtained by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), came after meetings held by the Kuwaiti delegation, headed by Sheikh Humoud, on Sunday during its participation in the 42nd General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada.
On the sidelines of the assembly, the Kuwaiti delegation met with the Japanese delegation to discuss operational developments and updating the memorandum of understanding between the two countries. A separate meeting was also held with the South Korean delegation, resulting in an agreement to encourage airlines from both countries to initiate direct air operations.
These steps are expected to boost trade, strengthen bilateral relations, and meet growing demand in Kuwait's air transport market. Sheikh Humoud also attended a reception hosted by the UAE in honor of delegations participating in the ICAO assembly. Earlier this week, ICAO recognized Kuwait for its progress in establishing an effective civil aviation security oversight system and enhancing compliance with international standards and recommended practices. The 42nd ICAO Assembly runs from September 23 to October 3, with broad participation from member states and international civil aviation organizations.
