The total value of real estate trading in the Sultanate of Oman in 2024 amounted to OMR3.38 billion.
This was stated in the annual statistical book issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), where Muscat Governorate topped the list of governorates in terms of trading value, recording approximately OMR1.25 billion, followed by North Al Batinah Governorate with OMR877.80 million, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate with a trading value of OMR380.70 million and South Al Batinah Governorate with a value of OMR359.40 million.
Dhofar Governorate recorded a trading value of OMR216.70 million, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate trading value reached OMR74 .40million, Al Dhahirah Governorate OMR72.50 million, North Al Sharqiyah Governorate recorded a trading value of about OMR66.50 million.
As for the other governorates, the trading value in Al Buraimi Governorate amounted to about OMR49.60 million, Al Wusta Governorate OMR15.70 million, Musandam Governorate recorded a trading value of OMR12.10 million. On the other hand, building permits in the Sultanate of Oman (including new and renewed) during the year 2024 amounted to 36,517 permits, a decrease of 7,184 permits, or 16.4 percent compared to the year 2023, in which the number amounted to 43,701 permits.
North Al Batinah Governorate accounted for the largest share of permits during 2024, with 6,664 permits, followed by South Al Batinah Governorate with 6,478 permits, Muscat Governorate with 6,236 permits, followed by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate with 5,313 permits, North Al Sharqiyah Governorate with 2,853 permits. About 2,793 permits were recorded in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, 2,610 permits in Dhofar Governorate, 2,072 permits in Ad Dhahirah Governorate, while in Al Buraimi Governorate they amounted to 609 permits, Musandam Governorate 558 permits, and finally in Al Wusta Governorate 331 permits.
Meanwhile, the number of building completion certificates increased by 41 percent to reach 23,743 in 2024, compared to 16,834 in 2023. North Al Batinah Governorate also topped the list of governorates in this regard with 5,458 certificates, followed by South Al Batinah Governorate with 4,289, Muscat Governorate with 3,548, and Al Dakhiliyah Governorate with 3,142. Approximately 1,787 certificates were registered in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, 1,774 in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, 1,447 in Ad Dhahirah Governorate, and 1,430 in Dhofar Governorate. Meanwhile, the number was limited to 441 in Al Buraimi Governorate, 279 in Musandam Governorate, and 148 in Al Wusta Governorate.
In terms of type of use, residential building permits constituted the largest proportion with 28,789 permits, followed by agricultural permits with 2,361 permits, then residential and commercial permits with 1,903 permits, and governmental permits with 1,636 permits. 971 industrial permits were also recorded, along with 474 commercial permits, 224 permits for other uses, 87 tourist permits, 56 permits for places of worship, and finally 16 educational permits.
