Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) was established in 1979, with the purpose of providing transport services throughout Saudi Arabia. The company offers an extensive transport system that connects more than 385 cities and villages all over the country. Daily international trips are scheduled to Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Yemen, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Sudan and Lebanon. SAPTCO maintains and operates around 3000 buses of different sizes and capacities. It carries out up to 800 trips every day. The total number of passengers transported by SAPTCO has reached more than 2,005 billion passengers, as of 2016.The number of local and international agents of the company reached 161 Agents.SAPTCO also provides transportation for educational institutes, as well as to factories and businesses that require transportation of raw materials and other goods. SAPTCO is headquartered in Riyadh and provides special transportation services for the Holy journeys of Hajj and Umrah too. The company has divided its businesses into five groups. The first is the SAPTCO Buses;this has 5 main operations (Intercity Transport, VIP Service, International, Urban Transport, and Contracts & Charters). The second is the Limousine Service; this allows the customers to choose luxury services, either as individual customers, or corporate. The third is SAPTCO Cargo; this provides transportation services to businesses for all kinds of goods and materials. The fourth is the Metro & Trains Business; this provides easier inter-city transportation options for customers. The fifth business is the Educational Transport Business;which provides services for universities and schools. SAPTCO employs more than 2500 employees for the smooth running of its 3000 plus fleet of buses.
