Shell Oman, one of the leading Fuel marketing companies in the Sultanate, successfully made its presence felt in the bitumen space by completing one year of supplies of Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) for the runway project at Muscat International Airport. The PMB production and delivery was according to specifications set by the consultant and the contractor. The Muscat International Airport project is one of the biggest airport construction projects in the Middle East.
Last year, Shell Oman entered into a supply agreement and production with the main contractor Consolidated Contractors Company Oman LLC (CCC-TAV JV) for supplies of bitumen to Muscat International Airport runway and aircraft taxi ways. The project requires continuous supply of bitumen and on-site production of Shell PMB that meets the industry's latest 'Superpave' specifications used for airport runway, major highways part and intersections.
Shell Oman Bitumen team has been providing uninterrupted production of quality certified, world-class Shell branded Cariphalte PG 76-22 PMB grade. Commenting on the occasion, Said al Rawahi, Shell Oman General Manager Commercial, said, "It is a proud moment for Shell Oman to be part of this prestigious project and it is our commitment to be the trusted partner of choice to supply 'Superpave' technology for our customers. We ensure prompt deliveries to all our customers and set high standards for our PMB product."
In order to provide the best services and to supply reliable products that meet the project requirements, Shell Oman has set up facilities that certify the quality of each batch. "Shell Oman is happy to support CCC-TAV JV in making use of the latest Bitumen products and we look forward to implement the same level of advanced technologies in other upcoming projects in Oman," added Al Rawahi.
On the occasion, CCC-TAV JV Project Director Rizik Abu Middian said: "We are satisfied with the level of support from Shell Oman Marketing to achieve our project key milestones through constant quality and delivery of Shell PMB."
The achievement demonstrates Shell Oman's capability to undertake large scale projects and is a testament to Shell Bitumen's commitment to the Sultanate's growth story.
