Xinhua quoted an official with the National Development and Reform Commission said China consumer price index, the main gauge of inflation will rise between 4.9%YoY and 5.1%YoY in the second quarter of 2011.
Mr Xu Lianzhong director with the NDRC Analysis and Prediction Office said at the 5th China Derivatives Analyst Forum 2011 held in Hangzhou of southeast China Zhejiang Province that the CPI will rise to about 5% in the first half of the year and move slightly lower in the second.
Mr Xu said China still faces grave inflationary pressures caused mainly by rising costs of production which pushed up prices of foods, commodities and services as well as carryover effects.
