Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries & Medical Appliances Corporation (SPIMACO, also known as: Spimaco Addwaeih) is a public company, listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange since October 1993. It is involved in the manufacture and distribution of generic and licensed pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies. SPIMACO also holds the ownership of various joint stock companies and limited liability companies (LLCs) located within and outside Saudi Arabia. Through its main subsidiaries, SPIMACO also handles the manufacturing of petrochemicals, distribution of pharmaceutical products, and the manufacturing of medical supplies, including: gowns, draping packs and sterilization wraps. This Pharma giant was set up with a paid-up capital amounting to SR 1.2 billion in 1986. SPIMACO's main objective was to set up an advanced pharmaceutical industry in the kingdom, for the local production of medicines and medical appliances and to market these products inside Saudi Arabia and internationally too. Headquartered in Riyadh, SPIMACO has its main manufacturing unit located in Al-Qassim, where the quality standards adopted by the company have helped it win several awards of professional excellence, and quality certifications. As for its international collaborations, SPIMACO conducts pharmaceutical manufacturing under license & contract with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Lilly, Sanofi, Novartis, GSK, Bayer Healthcare and Roche. SPIMACO has licensing-in contracts with Meda, ViforPharma, Kyorin, Pharmathen, Esteve, EirgenPharma, Kern Pharma and Blue pharma. SPIMACO also holds licensing-out contracts with Janssen-Cilag, DMSCO and Hodaithy International Group.
