Four Bahrainis have taken up managerial positions in key departments at the aluminium smelter, Alba announced yesterday.

The new appointees are: Nezar Hameed Ali as manager of operation support services; Hussain Al Malali as manager of customer technical support; Mohammed Rahim Zainal as manager reduction line 5 and Khalid Ahmed Shareef as manager of reduction maintenance and services.

Nezar Hameed Ali began his career with Alba in 1997 as a senior operator in the casthouse and has worked in departments including reduction lines and safety health and environment.

Hussain Al Malali joined Alba in 1998 as a supervisor in carbon operations and served in departments such as Carbon Process Control, Carbon Operations and Customer Technical Support.

Mohamed Rahim Zainal joined Alba in 1991 as a reduction potline operator and was tasked in process control and reduction relining and pot repair.

Khalid Ahmed Shareef started in Alba as a vocational trainee (mechanical) in 1998 and was positioned in departments such as central workshop, reduction Line 4 and 5 and reduction maintenance and services.

“As a priority, Alba always looks to promote from within,” the company’s chief executive Tim Murray said.

“We believe in developing talented nationals by providing them with the necessary training and education which will translate into a successful, strategic leadership model.

“The new managers have extensive expertise in the respective fields and bring a business mind-set through their MBA training; I am confident that they will bring continued success to Alba,” Murray said.
