Bahrain recorded its highest level of electricity consumption at 3,048 MW this summer on Tuesday, said a senior government official.
“The previous highest was 2,040 MW, recorded on June 12,” Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr Abdulhussain Mirza was quoted as saying by the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
He said power consumption was expected to increase until mid-September with temperatures rising and families returning from summer vacation.
The highest level of water consumption was recorded on Thursday, with 163 million gallons pumped in the EWA distribution network, Dr Mirza said in a statement.
