Building on their long-standing partnership, Doha Bank and Mastercard have signed a long-term agreement to introduce a number of payment solutions in Qatar.
Financial inclusion is key focus area for both companies, and the partnership will see innovative products being offered to the country’s workforce as part of the agreement.
One of the largest payroll solutions in the market, the offering with Mastercard gives a holistic approach to payments, including the introduction of remittance offerings and contactless payments. This initiative supports the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and Qatar Central Bank’s efforts to secure a safe working environment for workers and ensuring wages are electronically transferred to their bank accounts. Dr R Seetharaman, Group CEO of Doha Bank, said: “Our partnership with Mastercard serves to bring the best card products to our growing customer base. This partnership is in line with Doha Bank’s overall strategy to bring the utmost value to employers and equally to payroll customers within the entire framework of the Wages Protection System (WPS) implementation.”
Doha Bank’s Head of Retail, Gul Khan, added: “Our main objective is to deliver access, convenience and great value, and our partnership with Mastercard will bring synergy in addressing the growing demand for safe and convenient payment solutions in Qatar.”
Khalid Elgibali, Division President – Middle East and North Africa, Mastercard, said: “Through collaborative efforts such as the one with Doha Bank, we are providing pioneering solutions that will help create a more integrated payments ecosystem as well as a more inclusive economy in Qatar. Innovation plays a key role in driving inclusion in the market, and access to convenient solutions such as payroll cards will give more communities access to the formal financial sector.”
Doha Bank and Mastercard previously embarked on a journey to offer unbeatable value to Doha Bank customers with the launch of the Lulu Co-branded Mastercard Credit Card in 2011. The multiple award-winning product has become one of Doha Bank’s flagship credit card products and one of the most popular card products amongst the local and expat communities.
