GWC and Al Asmakh Real Estate Development Company have signed a management agreement that will bring the ‘Al Asmakh Logistics Park’ under the management of GWC for a 22-year period between 2018 and 2040.

Strategically located in the growing North Doha districts, the Al Asmakh Logistics Park boasts of a number of features specifically tailored to serve the needs of the nation’s small and medium enterprise sector (SMEs).

The agreement was signed for GWC by its Group CEO Ranjeev Menon and for Al Asmakh by its vice president and CEO Hassan Ibrahim al-Asmakh in the presence of Economic Zones Company (Manateq) officials among others in Doha yesterday.

GWC chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Fahad bin Jassem bin Jabor al-Thani said, “We are honoured to enter into this management agreement with Al Asmakh, the real-estate giants of Qatar, and to extend to them the trust that GWC gained from the Government and private sectors alike. This will be the backbone for ensuring success and maximised utilisation of Al Asmakh Logistics Park.”

With GWC undertaking the management of Al Asmakh Logistics Park, the business community will directly benefit from GWC’s expertise in providing unparalleled logistical support for more than a decade.

Al Asmakh president Ibrahim Hassan al-Asmakh said, “Entering into this agreement with GWC, the leaders of logistics services, will further enhance the delivery of the project’s objectives to the end-user. We trust that the Al Asmakh Logistics Park is now in safe hands and will stand as an example of the power of co-operation between Qatari companies encouraged by the wise leadership of His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani”.

Al Asmakh has developed a logistics park over an area of 496,410 square metres, offering various storage solutions, including: 111,329 square metres of dry warehousing; 32,067 square metres of air-conditioned warehousing; 31,618 square metres of chilled warehousing; 13,916 square metres of frozen warehousing; and 17,604 square metres of open yard storage.

To ensure the creation of a self-contained, harmonious, business community, Al Asmakh also included in the design of the park with various amenities, including a community centre, accommodation facilities, and a mosque. For ease of access, the park features sufficient parking for clients and guests, while security is maintained through measures active around the clock.

GWC has a “proven” track record in the management of several hubs, among them are the 1mn square metre Logistics Village Qatar (LVQ); the over half-million square metre GWC Bu Sulba Warehousing Park, and the oil and gas dedicated Ras Laffan Industrial City Logistics Hubs, in addition to several others in Doha and Mesaieed.

These hubs provide a full range of logistics solutions and services that are easy to access and immediately operational, offering all the logistics requirements of all economic sectors in Qatar and for regional and international corporations.

“It is this track record of excellence that we wish to bring to bear in the operation and management of the Al Asmakh Logistics Park, to ensure the best possible outcome for clients, stakeholders, and our beloved nation,” Sheikh Abdullah added.
