The MSM30 Index increased 0.29 per cent to close at 5,993 points. The advance to decline ratio at the end of the trading session stood at 4.00:1.
The total shares exchanged decreased by 20.81 per cent to 5.237 million shares and the total value traded decreased by 35.54 per cent to RO1.880 million. The market breadth was positive with 16 gainers and four losers out of 44 traded securities.
Amongst the sectors, Banking and Investment Sector increased 0.21 per cent to close at 6,533 points. The Services and Insurance Sector increased 0.24 per cent to close at 2,542 points. The Industrial Sector increased 0.12 per cent to close at 6,742 points. The top two gainers were BankMuscat (+3.29%) and Om. Emirates (+2.86%) to close at RO1.100 and RO0.108.
The top two losers were Oman Inv. & Fin. (-1.60%) and Oman Fisheries (-0.96%) to close at RO0.185 and RO0.103. The top two by volume traded were Dhofar Cattlefeed (0.811 million shares) and Bank Sohar (0.680 million shares). The top two by value traded were Renaissance Services (RO0.428 million) and BankMuscat (RO0.271 million).
Gulf stocks
Saudi Arabian shares headed for the lowest close this month. Abu Dhabi’s ADX General Index advanced 0.2 per cent. Dubai’s DFM General Index climbed 0.1 per cent, while Bahrain’s measure was little changed. Qatar’s QE Index dropped 0.2 per cent and Kuwait’s index also slipped.
